Company

The excellence of the quality is the main characteristic of GEMELS products and this is possible due to the accurate selection of raw materials, staff and partners.

GEMELS S.p.A. covers more than 12.500 m², between indoor and outdoor area.

In 1969, in the center of Trescore Balneario (Bergamo, less than 50 km from Milan), Mr. Angelo Facchinetti gave life to his “Officina Meccanica”. Then in the ‘90s the Company changed its name to GEMELS and the first ball valve GE2 model was realized.

The first shipment abroad, in 1997, highlighted the first step of the internationalization process.

In 2004 GEMELS bought two new buildings, next to the first one, to increase its production. From that moment on, GEMELS begins to cover an area of 10.000 m² and in 2010 the Company made the first investments in the Oil&Gas market, obtaining API 6D Certification two years later and starting to produce valves up to 42”.

In 2015, becoming always more aware of health and safety themes, GEMELS obtained ISO 18001 and OHSAS 14001 Certifications and the first machine for the automatic assembly of GE valves was introduced in 2017.

In 2018 GEMELS widened its product range by developing Quick Couplings. In 2020 the Company changed its business name from GEMELS s.r.l. to GEMELS S.p.A. and the first branch, Gemels North America Inc., based in Dayton (USA), was opened. In the USA there are offices and a warehouse, which supply all the American market.

During the last few years GEMELS has increasingly invested in the electric field with a dedicated division, has introduced in its range the hydraulic and electric rotary unions for the earthmoving and lifting market, enlarged buying a new building and obtained the DNV certification for marine field.

GEMELS obtained the legality rating with the maximum score of 3 stars. The award was issued by the Antitrust Authority (AGCM) in agreement with the Ministries of the Interior and Justice, recognizing rewards to GEMELS that operates according to high standards of legality, transparency and social responsibility.

Quality lab and testing

The quality department guarantees that all the production follows all the required standards, performing rigorous tests before and after the assembly of all the production. After the internal assembly, all valves are 100% tested using specific test benches. Moreover, in our Internal Laboratory, GEMELS qualified personnel tests the life of the valves, simulating critical applications and conditions with special machineries (burst test, impulse test, saltspray test, climatic room, tridimensional check, microscope, hardness gauge, bidimensional gauge) to constantly ensure the highest quality.

Production

The production area, where GEMELS produces more than 100.000 valves and quick couplings per month, consists of more than 50 machines including automatic numerical controlled machines and semi-automatic ones, among which CNC, lathes, transfers etc.
These technologies and the high qualified personnel help GEMELS to achieve the quality standards and excellence, obtaining the required technical characteristics and being trustworthy in the field. All the production is guaranteed 100% MADE IN ITALY.

Assembling

To ensure an additional quality guarantee, at the beginning of 2017 a new automatic assembly line for the mounting and testing of the ball valves was installed in our plant. This machine permits the assembly and the relative test, of all the standard valves up to 1”. For each assembled valve, an automatic report that shows every step of the process is done, thanks to the pictures shot by the cameras placed in each station of the machine. For additional information about this automatic assembly line, it is possible to watch the video in the gallery section. Here the valves are tested 100%.
Besides this machine, there is the ‘historic’ manual assembly line for the assembly of the valves with bigger DN and special models.
