Rising stem

Rising Stem ball valves are designed for severe industrial applications where high performance, reliability, and long service life are required. This valve type is particularly suitable for high-temperature applications, abrasive fluids with possible solid particles, zero leakage requirements, and systems subjected to frequent opening and closing operations.

The operating principle is based on a combined tilting and rotating movement of the stem and ball, eliminating direct friction between the ball and the seat during opening and closing operations. When the valve is closed, the ball remains in contact with the seat ensuring tight sealing; during opening, the ball tilts away from the seat before rotating completely, allowing smooth flow and reducing wear on sealing surfaces.

The absence of friction between the ball and seat provides low operating torque, extended component lifetime, and the possibility of using smaller actuators. The Top Entry design also allows in-line inspection and maintenance, reducing downtime and service costs.

General features

The RISING STEM ball valve performance is based on slope and rotation mechanism of the stem and ball. This allows to eliminate the rubbing of the ball against the seal, avoiding any damage.

When the valve is closed, the ball is in contact with the seat, ensuring a tight seal.
When the valve starts opening, the ball tilts, moving away from the seat, and the line flow passes uniformly. Then, the ball rotates to the fully open position. The absence of ball scraping against the seat, during both the opening and the closing, allows to have low torques (with the consequent reduction of the actuators dimensions), high flows and optimal long-term performance.

This type of valve is suitable for high temperatures, abrasive liquids (with possible solid bodies), applications requiring zero leakage and frequent maintenance operations.

The design of this kind of valves is TOP ENTRY, allowing the inspection and repair of the valve, simplifying the maintenance
